Posts about our film interviews in California, December 2013.

Our first day in LA.

Our first day in LA got off to a good start! We were all up super early (as I think we were still slightly on UK time) & had a lovely breakfast provided by the hotel to get us ready for planning, prepping & practising with the equipment. The group all worked together to set up & check the filming equipment. After a few hiccups were sorted (including the mini crisis of having no batteries for the sound recorder.. eek!), we started to feel ready for our big & super important first interview tomorrow! All our job roles are set & we brainstormed on ideas for the interview questions. Now we just have to get there, not be late & most importantly - have fun & make the most of what is an utterly fantastic opportunity for The Elstree Project! We then decided to go for a stroll through Burbank & came across an awesome sweet shop with a plethora...

We're here in Burbank, and it's currently 7am on Sunday. The long flight wasn't too bad, though a little uncomfortable (the vegetarian food was unfortunately horrid and mostly inedible!), but the staff were nice and looked after us :) It took over an hour to get through the airport - getting fingerprints scanned, photos taken etc. and then just trying to find somewhere to sit and have a bite to eat was impossible, so we decided to cut our losses and get a shuttle to our hotel. The hotel, while outwardly not looking great, is very nice and the man at the front desk was lovely. We all have comfy double beds and it's near a good part of Burbank. When we arrived we ditched our suitcases and walked into the main little shopping road and saw dozens of wonderfully quirky shops with antiques, Christmas gift ideas, small little galleries with live jazz being played and even a shop purely...

Eve of the trip!

It's five hours to go until the taxi arrives to take us to the airport. Most of the packing is done though I am worried about whether the boom pole will fit in a suitcase. If challenged I shall claim it's a walking stick and limp noticeably about the airport. The benefit of flying to the USA is that we gain time on the flight, which means we can fly 11 hours and arrive only three hours after taking off. I intend to use the time to write some more questions for my interviews and - perhaps - getting a bit of extra sleep. Speaking of which......

Less than a week to go

On Saturday, we are flying off - very early in the morning - from Heathrow to Los Angeles!  We're going there to film a series of interviews with notable cast and crew members who worked at Elstree, but mainly live and work in California. We will be in Los Angeles until the 19th and then we fly to San Francisco, before returning to Heathrow on the 23rd... just in time for Christmas! The crew will all be contributing to this blog as we go along, and we hope to post up some interesting stories from our adventures....
