Staircases to Nowhere
The Shining was made at EMI-Elstree Studios in 1978-79, directed by Stanley Kubrick.
In 2013 we made a documentary about the making of the film, as told to us by the film’s actual crew. Our film, Staircases to Nowhere: Making Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’ has been acclaimed as “the definitive 55 minute retrospective on the making of a horror masterpiece”, and the BFI said it was “like being on set with Stanley Kubrick”.
See the whole film below and find out the true story of how The Shining was made.
