We’re here in Burbank, and it’s currently 7am on Sunday. The long flight wasn’t too bad, though a little uncomfortable (the vegetarian food was unfortunately horrid and mostly inedible!), but the staff were nice and looked after us 🙂
It took over an hour to get through the airport – getting fingerprints scanned, photos taken etc. and then just trying to find somewhere to sit and have a bite to eat was impossible, so we decided to cut our losses and get a shuttle to our hotel. The hotel, while outwardly not looking great, is very nice and the man at the front desk was lovely. We all have comfy double beds and it’s near a good part of Burbank.
When we arrived we ditched our suitcases and walked into the main little shopping road and saw dozens of wonderfully quirky shops with antiques, Christmas gift ideas, small little galleries with live jazz being played and even a shop purely dedicated to model train sets!
We were in the mood for pizza, so we found a great Italian restaurant – the smell as we entered was so good, we were convinced it was the right place to be. We ordered and received some of the biggest pizzas we’d seen! We ended up taking slices back to the hotel in pizza boxes. It tasted great though, and when a place has a queue going out of the door, you know that must be a good sign. We plan to go back and get some freshly made gelato before we leave.
By the time we finished it was 7pm local time, and we were exhausted from travelling for over 15 hours, so we went back to the hotel for bed. Today we plan to do a full technical setup and run through for tomorrow’s interview and try to just take it easy.
